A Unique Opportunity to Foster and Care for Our Dogs
Waitlist: 1 Puppy Available
At Countryview Labradors, we believe in the power of community and the importance of providing loving, stable homes for our dogs as they grow, learn, and fulfill their purpose. Our Guardian Program offers a unique opportunity for families to care for a dog in a supportive, loving environment while playing a key role in the responsible breeding process.
What is the Guardian Program?
The Guardian Program is designed to partner with families who are willing to open their hearts and homes to one of our dogs. As a Guardian, you’ll provide a safe, nurturing environment for a puppy who may go on to become part of our breeding program. In exchange for your care and commitment, you’ll have the opportunity to welcome a dog into your home at no cost, and when their time in the program is complete, the dog becomes your forever companion.
How the Program Works
Application Process
If you believe your home and lifestyle are a good fit for our Guardian Program, you’ll start by submitting an application. We’re looking for families who can provide a safe, loving environment with a secure, enclosed area for the dog to play and relax. Additionally, Guardian families must be willing to feed their dog with 4Strong Paws premium kibble and adhere to the program's guidelines for care.Initial Care and Responsibilities
Once accepted into the program, you will receive your puppy at around 8 weeks of age. You’ll raise the dog as part of your family, ensuring they are well-cared-for, loved, and socialized in a safe environment. As a Guardian, you'll be responsible for regular vet visits, providing the appropriate diet, and maintaining an active and positive lifestyle for your dog.
Holiday Support: We understand that life can get busy, and sometimes you’ll need to travel. When you go on holidays, we will take care of your dog to ensure they are loved and looked after, so you can enjoy your time away without worry.Breeding Considerations
Male Dogs: After fostering a male puppy for at least 1.5 years, he will be evaluated by a vet to determine if he qualifies for breeding. If so, you’ll need to bring him to Countryview Labradors for a breeding session, which may last up to 7 days.
Female Dogs: Female dogs in the program will also begin as puppies at 8 weeks old. At around 2 years of age, following at least two heat cycles, they will be evaluated for breeding. You’ll work with us to determine the best timing for bringing your female dog to Countryview Labradors during her heat cycle. Once her puppies are weaned at 6 weeks, she’ll return to your home.
Vet Costs
All veterinary costs associated with your dog’s health and care, including vaccinations, routine checkups, and breeding-related evaluations, are fully covered by the breeder unless the issue is determined to be at fault by the Guardian family. This ensures that you can focus on providing the best care for your dog without worrying about unexpected vet expenses.Full Ownership
After your dog has completed their time in the Guardian Program (typically around 5-6 years for females and 7-8 for males of age), full ownership will be transferred to you at no cost. At this time, your dog is officially yours to keep and enjoy for their remaining years.Contractual Agreement
All Guardian families must sign a contract outlining their responsibilities and commitments. This contract ensures that both the Guardian family and Countryview Labradors are aligned in terms of the dog’s care, health, and breeding requirements. If the terms of the contract are not met, the dog may be returned to Countryview Labradors.
